Welcome to the monthly book discussion event! We meet on second Tuesday of the month to discuss our current read and pick a book for the next month.

1. Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhoodood by Trevor Noah is a memoir by Trevor Noah that chronicles his childhood and coming-of-age in South Africa during and after apartheid. The title refers to the fact that Noah's birth to a black mother and white father was a crime under the apartheid regim
2. Pedagogy_of_the_Oppressed by Paulo Freire
   is a foundational text in critical pedagogy that critiques traditional education models. It proposes a dialogical approach where teachers and students are co-creators of knowledge, rather than a "banking" model where students are passive recipients.
3. Lies_My_Teacher_Told_Me by James W. Loewen is a non-fiction book that exposes the misinformation and biases found in American history textbooks. The author analyzes popular textbooks to reveal how they perpetuate blind patriotism and fail to present an accurate or engaging account of the nation's history.
4. Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro is a dystopian novel about a group of friends who grow up in a seemingly idyllic boarding school in the English countryside. The story unfolds as the narrator reflects on her past and the dark secret behind their upbringing, which they must eventually confront.
