This introductory session offers a clear overview of the Watercolor Nuts & Bolts approach, the structure of the studio classes, and how shared problem-solving forms the basis of artistic development in watercolor.
Participants will meet the instructor, view examples of student and instructor work, and learn how the ongoing studio sessions are organized and structured.
This is a focused introduction to the watercolor fundamentals we will be studying. It is not a social gathering, but a purposeful orientation for those considering continued study.

### Materials for the First Painting Session
Please plan to bring the following supplies to your first painting class. All items are readily available at Michaels. Online orders from Blick Art Materials or Jerry’s Artarama may require additional delivery time.
Supplies:
- ¾" flat watercolor brush
- Two watercolor paint tubes: Ultramarine Blue (French) and Burnt Umber
- White plastic mixing tray
- White artist tape
- 9" × 12" Strathmore watercolor paper pad (white paper)
- Two white cups for water
- Paper towels
- Rigid backing board approximately 16" × 20"

### Looking Ahead
Students who wish to continue may enroll in a 10-session Watercolor Fundamentals studio series, developing skills in values, color, and technique through structured, progressive study.
