I’m excited to announce that I will be hosting a Somatic Dance and Cacao Ritual on Friday’s at The Active Centre, Nelly Bay, Magnetic Island starting this week Friday JAN 16 at 7.15pm

*What is Somatic Dance*
Somatic dance is a sober, facilitated, freeform movement practice with music jounrey that invites you to listen inward, move intuitively and reconnect with your body’s natural intelligence. By focusing on breath, sensation, and instinctive movement, it helps regulate the nervous system, release stored tension, and cultivate embodied presence, emotional expression, and self-awareness.

*Why Cacao?*
Ceremonial cacao has been used for centuries in ceremonial contexts as a heart-opening plant to support reflection, connection, and intention. It is a natural, unprocessed form of chocolate rich in theobromine, magnesium, and mood-enhancing compounds like anandamide and phenylethylamine. It supports increased blood flow, heart opening, mental clarity, and a gentle uplift in mood which makes it ideal to connect us through movement and inner exploration. Cacao may not be suitable for people who:
• Are sensitive to caffeine or stimulants
• Have heart conditions or high blood pressure
• Are taking antidepressants (especially MAOIs or certain SSRIs)
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Have a history of anxiety, panic attacks, or migraines triggered by stimulants
If unsure, it’s recommended to take a very small amount or skip the cacao and bring a nourishing drink of your choosing.

*How do I pay*
Tickets are $40. We will be taking cash on the day as you arrive. OR $35 if you bring a friend. Please RSVP by Friday morning so we know you are coming and we can prepare your Cacao.

*What do I bring*
Please bring water, comfortable clothes to move in, a cup for your cacao, something to sit on/lie on - whatever comforts will make you feel good in your body, something for the altar - nature, jewellery, crystals - any piece of you to add to the space (you’ll take it home again at the end)

*The Facilitator*
The facilitator, Tegan is a trained Hatha Yoga Teacher, Somatic Dance Facilitator and Somatic Therapist. She has moved on many dance floors from Raves, Ecstatic Dance & 5 Rhythms. She has supported people, couples and groups with embodiment for almost 15 years.

• Wants to move their body without choreography or pressure
• Spends a lot of time in their head and want to feel more grounded
