Plein Air Painting at Domino Park

What to Expect: We'll spend around 3-4 hours outdoors in the city, making art and enjoying each other's company. After the painting session, we will go to a nearby cafe/restaurant to further connect.
Expect a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where you can unleash your creativity and connect with fellow artists.

We are going to Domino Park, the old Domino Sugar Refinery site that has since been converted to a public park in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. The riverside walk features salvaged equipment from the refinery and a stunning view of the NYC waterfront.

How to get there:
Take the NYC Ferry to North/South Williamsburg. Also accessible by the J, L, G, M trains.

Agenda:

1:00 PM - 1:10 PM: We’ll gather at the Seating Steps, across from the Domino Sugar Refinery Shell on River St.
From there we will spend the next 15-20 minutes looking for the perfect spot to settle.

1:30 PM : 4:30 PM Painting session.

4:30- 5:00PM - Regroup back near the Seating Steps for Show and Tell.
After 5 PM we'll get some grub at a nearby place.

We encourage you to stay as this is the part that helps us truly connect and foster a meaningful connection with each other.

If you are new, introduce yourself and your art practice, with the group, share your work (optional), sources of inspiration, and thoughts on the overall experience.

What to Bring:

1. Something to paint with - your preferred painting mediums, oil paints, watercolors, acrylics, gouache, ink, pastel, markers etc.
Brushes, pens and or pencils
2. Something to paint on - linen, canvas, paper, sketchbook etc.
3. Easels/pochade box (optional)
Beginners can join in with just a sketchbook or an iPad.
4. Dress comfortably for outdoor painting and walking, bring a hat, sunscreen, a water bottle and bug spray.
