Hi, I'm Jen Shepherd, a Gita trained yoga teacher (www.gita.com.au). I am planning to teach a gentle yoga class, suitable for plus size people at my home in Armadale. I can probably have a maximum of 6 people.

I know many of you have been to yoga classes before. You may well find similarities between other methods and Gita. The Gita method goes from gentle right through to advanced. It is suitable for everybody, regardless of body size, shape, flexibility etc.

A suggested format for the class would be stretching & limbering, a pranayama (breathing exercise) introduction of asanas (postures) and yoga relaxation.

Followed by a cup of tea/coffee.

A little about me. I first attended Gita as a student in 1987 - going on to do my teacher training course in 1994/1995. I have taught since that time on a part time basis in a variety of different settings. Yoga for mothers and babies, and general hatha (physical) classes at the Harold Holt Swim Centre in Glen Iris, introduced yoga classes to the Department of Treasury and Finance when I worked there in the late 1990s, classes in private homes, volunteer teaching at Wellington House in Box Hill - a drug and alcohol rehab centre. I also taught Progressive Yoga Relaxation for about 3 years at the Gita School.

I look forward to welcoming you to my home for yoga and the chance to really wind down with a relaxation session - a nice change from your busy week.

I am suggesting a $20 cost for the class.

My home is very close to Armadale station in Cheel Street, also to the Malvern No. 5 tram and Glen Iris No. 6 tram (alight at Kooyong road).
