Seattle Area Van/Camping: Moran State Park (Orcas Island/Olga WA) Oct 24-26

Details

Let's round out the 2025 Seattle area camping season at Moran State Park, the largest Washington State Park, located on Orcas Island. The park is accessible via a ferry from Anacortes which is 90 miles north of Seattle. Vans are optional, tent and car campers are very welcome. We will post this event on a few different Meetups so even if you only see a few people here, we should have more from the other groups. We're still growing.

Overview
Nestled within over 5,000 acres of forests and freshwater lakes, Moran State Park offers an ideal fall RV camping destination on Orcas Island’s tranquil east side. Four RV‑friendly campgrounds are clustered around Cascade Lake and Mountain Lake—with North End, Midway, South End, and Mountain Lake areas—each featuring firepits, picnic tables, gravel pads, restrooms, and showers; however, there are no utility hookups. Beyond your campsite lies a five‑lake playground with 38+ miles of trails perfect for hiking, biking, horseback riding, swimming, and boating, see the brochure here for a detailed description. A sunset‑worthy highlight: drive or hike to the summit of Mount Constitution, home to a rustic Civilian Conservation Corps–built stone observation tower that offers sweeping views across the San Juan Islands, Cascades, Olympics, and even Mt. Baker on clear days. The nearby Cascade Falls trail features four easily accessible waterfall views.
