Japanese Poetry of the Heian Period & Open Mic

Hosted By

Details
The Art Institute of Chicago is hosting a show of Japanese prints featuring female poets of the Heian Period - timeframe 794 AD to 1185 AD in the West.
Join me to listen to selections of Japanese poetry and some prose from that time period. I will also say a few things about the literature of that time and specifically focus on the women writers. There is no lecture on poetry at the Art Institute concurrent with the exhibition, and if you want to see the show or if you already saw it, it should be interesting to fill in some gaps and expand the experience beyond visuals.
If you feel inspired, please bring your poems and join for an Open Mic in the second part of the get together.
