3rd Annual Chicago No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker Championship

WHAT: The 3rd Annual No-Limit Texas Holdem Championship. To see reviews of the 2007 and 2008 Championships, please visit the following:

WHO: Open to all members of this Meetup Group and their guests. Must be 21 with ID. You do not need to have "qualified" to participate in this Open Tournament.

WHEN: Sun., June 14th 2009

RSVP: Please RSVP if you are sure you're coming so we have a reasonably accurate estimate of attendance.

WHERE / TRANS: Dave & Busters, 1030 N. Clark St. Chicago. Red Line El-Subway stops at Division 2 blocks north. 22 bus at front door, 36 Broadway bus runs nearby. 10 minutes and $7 to 10 by taxi from Union Station.

TIME: Registration starts at 200pm. We'll shuffle up and deal promptly at 230pm

GAME: No-Limit Texas Holdem. Pursuant to Roberts Rules of Poker and the guidelines of the Poker Tournament Directors Association.

DOUBLE ELIMINATION: This tournament will be played "double elimination". Upon first bust-out all players will receive a re-entry stack equal to 30 X the next big blind level. Those players not requiring a re-entry will receive an add-on equal to the current re-entry amount at break/color-up. This arrangement gives all players 2 full opportunities to win, and effectively means that to win the tournament, the champion will have to "beat everyone twice", leaving no doubt they deserve the title.

FREE. NO GAMBLING: This event is free, there is no buy-in or gambling. No cash prizes, trophies or things of value, no free food/drinks, etc. Strictly for entertainment.

Congratulations to Kostis Tsonis who emerged as our Champion after coming from quite a chip deficit. One major well-hidden hand made all the difference as runner-up Jamie played fantastic poker. As a gauge of difficulty, the final table featured no less than FIVE players who have qualified for the Player of the Decade Tournament. See you at the next Championship !

one huge glitch! please no one touch the cards on the table if you are not in the hand, including burn cards etc, this led to a snafu that had huge consequences for me! Except for that moment, it was terrific fun as usual!
