Policy Hacking with Farm&City: Safe Routes to School -- CANCELLED

Details
DUE TO OUR TEAM BEING EXPOSED TO COVID, WE HAD TO CANCEL THIS EDITION OF POLICY HACKING. We will be back next month on the first Thursday - November 3rd - as usual.
We think every kid in Texas deserves to live the freedom of feeling and being safe walking, biking, using their wheelchair, or riding in cars and transit in their neighborhood and around their school.
Unfortunately, we're not there.
However, because of the Federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Texas Department of Transportation's new ten year plan includes an almost doubling of funding for Transportation Alternatives – the bucket of funding that includes Safe Routes to School – to $1.7 billion over ten years.
Cities and communities across Texas have different levels of Safe Routes to School plans and funding. We encourage every community to invest in planning and equitable community engagement to ensure that ramping up funding will benefit as many children, teachers, parents, and communities as possible.
Join us for a discussion with some of the leaders of the Safe Routes to Schools space in Texas and New Mexico.
Speakers:
Amir Emamian, City of Austin
Ashleigh Curry, Las Cruces Public Schools
Noah Heath, Texas Department of Transportation
Jay Blazek Crossley, Farm&City
