May Tuesday #2

At this event I can disclose, quickly, the events of the KS Libertarian Party Convention.

Most of what I want to talk about is KS SB 29. This bill was passed into law by overriding a government veto. Below is the official "Short Title" of the bill per the official KS website:

"Substitute for SB 29 by Committee on Public Health and Welfare - Removing the authority of the county or joint board of health or local health officer to prohibit public gatherings when necessary for the control of infectious or contagious disease"

As I understand the bill. The government of Kansas forbids county governments to enact lockdown or quarantine policies in the event of an epidemic. We all have opinions about the covid lockdowns. It is my opinion that government should be at the most local level. Therefor my opinion is against this bill because I don't like the state government telling a county how to function. Now, if Shawnee County decided to enforce a lockdown, I would have opinions on that too, but the State should not be uniformly in charge or lockdown in unilaterally, either in enforcing lockdowns nor in forbidding them.

Feel free to disagree with me, that's the point of the discussion.
