Welcome to Polkadot and Kusama, Kamloops! This is a community for both technical and non-technical people to learn about, discuss, and hack on the Polkadot and Kusama networks.
Polkadot is a next-generation, sharded, multi-chain network founded by Dr. Gavin Wood, cofounder and former chief technology officer of Ethereum and creator of the Solidity programming language. Polkadot is a metaprotocol solving issues hindering the growth of legacy blockchains such as Ethereum and Bitcoin, including scalability, governance, and interoperability challenges.
Decentralized finance, gaming, social media, and energy management apps thrive on Polkadot, and are challenging the dominance of centralized platforms that are subject to going down, or locking out users for proprietary reasons.
Kusama, founded in 2019 by Gavin Wood, is a scalable network of specialized blockchains with nearly the same codebase as Polkadot. The network is a development environment for teams who want to move fast and innovate, or fine-tune and prepare for deployment on Polkadot. It's a platform built for radical change agents to take back control from big tech, spark innovation and push the limits of what’s possible.
This group will follow Polkadot's development and host events to help inform members about the latest upgrades and features, along with other ecosystem updates.
