Polyglot Meetup

Welcome to San Diego's monthly Sunday meeting - without having to drive to San Diego! This meeting will be ONLINE.

Who should come? Anyone looking to practice a language or multiple languages, no matter your proficiency. English as second language (ESL) learners welcome. Don't be shy if you're a "poly-not" learning his or her first language outside your native tongue, as all levels are welcome! You're guaranteed to learn a thing or twenty, and have fun while you're at it. Feel free to invite guests, including international visitors.

How does it work?

• Newcomers will introduce themselves (usually in English) and tell the group what languages they speak or are learning.

• After that, I'll assign everyone to breakout rooms, with a different language spoken in each room. Please you change your name in Zoom to reflect your choice(s) of breakout room; for example, "Miguel - German" or "Beth - ES, IT, JA." Doing this makes the assignments go much smoother and faster!

• If/when you want to switch rooms, just click on "leave breakout room" and return to the main room (may be on the lower right part of the screen depending on your computer browser/ phone). From the main room, I can reassign you to a different language room and you click on "join breakout room" somewhere on your screen.

• When the meeting "ends" after two hours, I may leave but I typically leave the meeting on for those who want to chat further.
