Document oriented data modelling

Analyzing your application’s data access patterns, how to efficiently model your data for predictable high performance using key-value patterns on Riak, and how to tackle the complexity that comes from building applications in a world increasingly dominated by distributed systems.

Bio:

Nathan Aschbacher is a Consulting Engineer for Basho Technologies, Inc. where he is responsible for working closely with several of the largest enterprises in almost every major marketplace. Whether working remotely or on-site Nathan successfully architects and implements solutions in a variety of languages built on the Riak distributed database. Ensuring that Riak fulfills its promise of high-availability and horizontal-scalability. Nathan also coordinates Basho’s training and education initiatives around distributed data and the unique challenges it presents to developers. Nathan’s first Riak-based project came during his six years as principal of a Portland-based consulting business where he created a fault-tolerant document management system built on Riak 0.12 for a client seeking a disaster-tolerant solution after a sustained power outage brought their multi-site business to a halt. Finally lured away from consulting by Coradine Aviation Systems he was tasked with architecting a SaaS platform for the general aviation market. After putting MySQL, Postgres, Mongo, and Cassandra through the ringer he finally arrived at Riak once again. His path to Basho was paved by actively engaging the Riak community, annoying Basho engineers with questions, and authoring the open source Riak client nodiak for node.js

Getting There

By transit there a number of high frequency buses (check Google Maps or the Translink site for your particular case) that will get you there. For the drivers, there is a fair bit of street parking (free and pay) in the area, especially after 6.
