Opera with Leila

Leila Zanette, our speaker and opera singer for the night, was born and raised in Kenya. Leila is a Mezzo-soprano of English and Italian nationality and completed her Master’s degree and the Opera course at the Royal Academy of Music. On the night, she will talk to us about her career, how opera is a different way of singing and will give us a performance to enjoy.

I have known Leila for just under a year and as a 29 year old, passionate about fitness, her theatre work and her private singing classes, she is also my barista in between jobs. This summer Leila has been working as an Alvarez Young Artist with Garsington Opera, where she performed in the chorus of Mozart’s Così fan tutte and Dvorjak’s Rusalka, as well covering the role of the 2nd Nymph in Rusalka. Last summer with Garsington Opera, Leila performed in the chorus of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Rossini’s Le Comte Ory, in which she also sung the role of Mezzo Corypheè.

Her story and work is varied and I know you are in for a treat with a private operatic evening.
