Explore the hidden Vesterbro on a Pop-up Tour
Details
Vesterbro is one of the most exciting districts of Copenhagen. It has always been a lively social scene, but has gone from being the home of factories and poor working families, to now being very popular with students, artists - and just about anybody else!
But what is under the surface of this popular district?
Join this Pop-up tour to:
- See the other side of the meat packing district (Kodbyen). From the industrial past to the newest ultra-hip places next to Copenhagen’s hard drug scene.
- Hear about the old pub culture of Denmark - which might have been lived out better in Vesterbro than anywhere else. The “brown bodegas" played a big part of peoples' life, and you can still see some of them and learn about the unwritten rules when you wish visit them.
- Hear how the “vesterbroers” lived before, and today, having to handle such things as city renovation, prostitution, the hard drug scene of Copenhagen, and the invasion of hipsters!
And finally:
- A chance to know the other participants and meet potential news friends. You are welcome to join an informal dinner after the tour at a very local Vesterbro place with the other participants.
Your guide on the tour is a long term resident to Vesterbro, besides being an authorized guide, and a specialist in explaining Danish culture to expats.
The Pop-up tours are aimed at expats, but tourists and Danes alike are also welcome.
We meet outside the "Jernbanecafeen" opposite the Central station. The tour itself will take 1.5-2 hours after which you are welcome to join for dinner.
The cost of the tour is 125 DKK which can be paid on the spot in cash or on MobilePay.
