Join this special tour of Tivoli Gardens, meet friendly people, and enjoy time on your own in Copenhagen’s most iconic attraction. Both expats, tourists and Danes are very welcome.
When Georg Carstensen opened Tivoli in 1843, he could hardly have imagined that it would become one of the world’s most admired amusement parks. Today, Tivoli is not only the second-oldest amusement park still operating – it has also inspired generations of creators, including Walt Disney himself. Tivoli’s charm comes from its unique mix of history, atmosphere, and a distinctly fairy-tale feel, especially during the Christmas season.
**On this tour, you will hear stories about:**
* How Tivoli was founded on Copenhagen’s old military grounds and the dramatic life of its ambitious founder
* How Tivoli became a haven from everyday life – with Asian, Moorish and other influences.
* Tivoli’s impact on figures from Hans Christian Andersen to Walt Disney
* The dramatic events Tivoli has survived, including bombings during WWII and near-bankruptcy
* And of course, what still makes Tivoli such a fascinating place for locals and visitors today
We will explore different corners of the gardens, the Christmas decorations, and the cozy Christmas market.
After the 1–1.5 hour guided tour, you are invited for join for something warm and hyggelig together. Afterwards, you can continue exploring on your own. With a return stamp, you can even come back later in the evening.
