Meetup #85 — Raspberry Pi Pico Workshop for n00bs

Details

For the next meetup we’re going to try something a little more hands-on than usual.

Hardware tinkerer extraordinaire Robin Hodgson has volunteered to lead a workshop in his home workspace to show people how to begin building electronic doo-hickeys using the extremely popular Raspberry Pi Pico microcontroller.

From Robin:

“My goal for the session is to get people set up with a "hello, world" C/C++/debugger development environment for a Raspberry Pi Pico embedded processor. They will need to bring a laptop with Linux or Unix on it, or Windows with WSL2 installed. I have a couple of spare Pico boards, but it would be major bonus points if they brought their own debugger.”

The debugger Robin recommends is this one: https://www.pishop.us/product/raspberry-pi-debug-probe/

If this sounds fun (and how could it not!), RSVP to this invite and I can send you the details on how to attend. We’re capping the number of attendees due to space restraints, so please do let me know as soon as you can if you plan on attending.

Don’t forget to bring your Linux/Unix/WSL2-powered laptop. If you have a board or some components you’d like to bring, please do bring them, too! And as usual, we'll have pizza and refreshments on hand.

“Could you create an image that depicts tinkerers working on PCB boards? It should be colorful and cartoonish.”
