Meetup #86 — Microcontroller Workshop #2

Details

At the last meetup we did a hands-on session where Robin Hodgson guided us through setting up a development environment for a Raspberry Pi Pico. People really enjoyed it and got a lot out of the session!

Given that there is so much more to dig into there, we’re going to do another similar workshop for the next meetup on Wednesday April 16. Jon Garrison will give us a demo of PlatformIO, a development framework for microcontroller development, and also show off a project that uses a custom PCB he designed. We’ll also see some work from at least one other person.

Bring your laptop, microcontroller and accessories for this hands-on workshop. Debuggers, breadboards and extra parts are appreciated. You can get set up with your first Raspberry Pi Pico project using these instructions Robin put together:

Note that like the last session, this one requires an RSVP. I’ll send a note with instructions on the location—we’ll be moving to a bigger space for this one. We’ll have food and beverage on hand.

“Could you create an image that depicts tinkerers working on PCB boards? It should be colorful and cartoonish. Use purple as the primary color.”
