Can you believe it, I’m hiking! Leaving from Portland at 10am on Saturday, let’s arrange carpool/drivers depending on how many are down!

Join me for a fall hike at Franconia Notch State Park! The Arethusa Falls and Frankenstein Cliff Loop is a great hike to the highest falls in New Hampshire. The trailhead is off Crawford Notch Road (route 302) and the falls are visible from the parking area. The trail begins directly from the parking lot and heads up until you reach the old Conway railroad tracks. From the tracks, you will know you are heading in the right direction along Frankenstein Cliffs Trail.

The Frankenstein Trestle is a historic, 520-foot-long railroad bridge in Crawford Notch, New Hampshire, known for its stunning views of the White Mountains and its connection to artist Godfrey N. Frankenstein. A popular hiking spot, visitors can access the trestle from the Frankenstein Cliffs Trail to explore the area below or walk along the railway tracks, keeping an eye out for the Conway Scenic Railroad trains that still use the line.

If we have time or depending on the group, we can also go to Silver and Flume Cascade 5 minutes up the road, another waterfall easily accessible from the road.

After the hike, we’ll grab food in Conway on the way back.
