Circumnavigate Mt Adams-a Strenuous BackCountry multiday ski tour

Details

50 miles, 4 days, all off trail. A classic re-peat tour of Mt Adams last done in 2009.

Requires experience in multiday snow camping, willingness to get up pre-dawn and ski 12 hours a day. Not difficult skiing, terrain is fairly gentle. Endurance however, is important, as well as ability to travel lightweight yet safe.

Mt. Adams is a beautiful mountain, rarely circumnavigated in summer. This one is a repeat of the 2009 epic journey.

Best equipment for this trip is backcountry fish scaled skis. Mostly flat touring except for the last 20 miles. Not a great tour for split boards due to frequent changes in elevation (up, down, traverse)

Here's the route. https://caltopo.com/m/GMH4

Itinerary:
April 30th: Depart for Smith Butte snowpark Wednesday evening,
May 1st: Ski 12 hours up Aiken lava and, if good weather window, do the hard part first and head counter clockwise and camp at Sunrise Camp.
May 2nd. Ski 12 hours-past avalanche valley and devils garden, camping at foggy flats
May 3rd Ski 12 hours ski
May 4th. Ski 12 hours back to car.

Be sure to sign up at least a week prior to departure and answer screen questions. Will be weather dependent.

Looking forward to skiing this journey again with the hardy and curious. David
