Popham Beach Phippsburg, Me. ( Sat. Nov. 11, rain date Sun. Nov 12)
Details
Join us for a brisk walk on beautiful Popham Beach, one of the finest and longest sandy beaches in Maine. Located at the tip of the Phippsburg peninsula not far (about 14 miles) from Bath, the park is on 500-acre.
Fort Popham was built during the Civil War in 1860 and never finished, is located two miles farther down Route 209. The fort sits on the banks of the Kennebec River, where it broadens into Atkins Bay, and offers views of Georgetown Island.
We will start at Fort Popham and walk down to the State Park. Parking is limited, so carpool if you can. There is no fee to park at Fort Popham.
Location: On Maine Route 209 in Phippsburg, 14 miles south of Bath
Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach off season.
Bring layers, water and a snack or picnic on the beach.
