The Devil’s Back Trail Area on Orr’s Island is a lovely walk through woods and along rocky shoreline. The trail takes its name for the land it is on: the road runs along the “spine” of the Devil’s Back.
We will hike both the west and the east trails. The trail on the west side of the road has a trail system that winds through mixed forest, old growth pines and hardy apple trees. The east loop trail descends to Long Cove, with views of the water where osprey nestled in large “stick nests,” or soaring over the cove searching for fish to eat. The trail on the east side is a loop that passes through soft and hardwood forest and drops down to Gun Point Cove, with the option of climbing out onto the rocks at low tide. Beautiful views of the coastline, seals, Ospreys and bald eagles are often spotted along this trail.
Please read the PBN release from liability. By signing up for this hike you are responsible for your own safety.
Please bring: good hiking shoes, water , snack, sunscreen and bug/tick repellant.
