We’re getting back into the woods! Many of you have hiked with us in the past but some of you may not. There are a few NEW guidelines (below) for us, and for you, so we can have the most fun. If you’re looking for a good group of people who love hiking, great conversation usually with food and beer, you’ve come to the right place!

Odd Alewives, Waldoboro to follow. Pizza and beer. We went here once before after a group hike and it’s just an amazing hidden gem in Maine. We knew it long before but they are Yankee Magazine’s editor’s choice for best beer garden this year for new england. Go Waldoboro! They are open 4-8 so this is a late afternoon hike.

New guidelines for us (John and Chris) as meetup hosts this year:

1. No Dogs. I have 2 myself and love dogs but not everyone does and we are asking you leave them at home for our hikes.

2. Please take a picture of the trail map that are posted at all trailheads in case you wander off trail. You are responsible for getting you out of the woods if you leave the group.

3. Dress appropriately for weather and conditions. If you don’t have the appropriate gear and get cold, or stick because you forgot microspikes, etc. you’ll need to find your way back to your car (see #2).

4. Sign up for the hike that matches your ability. We hike fast-ish over different terrain including narrow trails, paths that are rocky and full of stumps, etc. Tripping and falling is easy in the woods and a real concern so if your balance is unsteady, you should have hiking poles.

5. Same rule as before. I have a no-show, no-go policy. You can bail last minute but if you straight-up don’t show i’ll boot you from our hikes for the remainder of the season (sept-may).
