Details
Happy November Hike! Hamilton Audubon Sanctuary Bath.
https://maineaudubon.org/visit/hamilton/
Rain date will be Sunday 11/02 if needed. We start later in the winter to give the temperature time to rise.
2.75 miles total. This hike will be fastish-paced with a couple of quick stops (unlike Dodge Point where we stopped alot).
Lunch will follow at Flight Deck in Brunswick for anyone who wants to join (Wild Oats is next door for anyone who doesnt want pizza).
For anyone who hasn’t hiked with us, we like good conversations, human connections, humor, food and beer following a hike. totally optional of course!

Meetup Business/New guidelines for John and Chris as meetup hosts this year:
No Dogs. I have 1 myself and love dogs but not everyone does and we are asking you leave them at home for our hikes.
Please take a picture of the trail map that are posted at all trailheads in case you wander off trail. You are responsible for getting YOU out of the woods. We will not circle back to look for you if you don’t communicate that you’re stepping out of the group.
You are joining a free group to hike with people who like hiking. This is not a guided, paid-for hike. Whether or not you have fun, are comfortable with the gear you wear, or dont get lost is 100% NOT our responsibility.
Dress appropriately for weather and conditions. You might live in Portland but there could be ice where we are hiking and that shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. If you don’t have the appropriate gear and get cold, or stuck because you forgot microspikes, etc. you’ll need to find your way back to your car (see #2).
Sign up for the hike that matches your ability. We hike fast-ish over different terrain including narrow trails, paths that are rocky and full of stumps, etc. Tripping and falling is easy in the woods and a real concern so if your balance is unsteady, you should have hiking poles.
Same rule as before. I have a no-show, no-go policy. You can bail up to 10 minutes before the hike starts. If you straight-up don’t show i’ll boot you from our hikes for the remainder of the season
NEW INFO ADDED 10/29 🤠
Okay, looks like weather has shifted and Saturday is the date! I’ve posted the map as the event picture. We will be taking all LEFTS: red trail, blue trail to green trail. If you are a little late and we have started, you can wait for us at the blue trailhead - its near the parking lot. The red loop is short and circles back to the beginning of the blue.
Every turn at a junction on these trails is a LEFT. If you get lost, etc, just keep turning left at the junctions and you’ll be fine.
With a group this size, we will not be counting heads and will be moving fast in the front to keep things moving. I cant see you in the back so speak up if you cant keep up! 😎
This trail is EASY but, full of stumps and I would expect mud. The parking lot is large but carpooling is always appreciated if you know people going and want to leave room for others. There is an outhouse at the trailhead (SCORE!)
Wr have some first-eventers who may appreciate this info:
We wait 10 min for stray travelers, as a courtesy. We usually do a circle huddle, and do a quick intro of first names and where you live as an icebreaker so its easy to start conversations amongst strangers: “hey, did you say you live in wiscasset? i love that town but the man, the traffic!” etc. We sometimes take pictures of people along the trail, so if you would prefer we didn’t, just let us know. We won’t ask why you’re in witness protection, but we will all suspect it! 😎
