Portland City Trail Walking Group

DESCRIPTION: Let's meet for a walk that includes a climb up a million year old shield volcano, and explore some of the Mountain Park trail system. At the top of the summit is the ancient volcano of the Boring Lava Field, Mount Sylvania, and the highest point in Lake Oswego at an elevation of 975 feet. Nansen Park offers a grassy area, benches, plantings, a weather station, and a 360 degree sweeping view of the landscape with views of the Tualatin River Valley. the West Hills and Mt. Hood on a clear day.
DISTANCE: About 5 miles
PARKING: Oswego Towne Square - New Season's Market
MEET AT: Walk across the street from Oswego Towne Square to meet in front of Hanko's Sports Bar and Grill on Greenridge and Monroe Parkway (address is 4 Monroe Parkway, Lake Oswego).
LAUNCH TIME: 10:00 AM (timing of walk is under two hours, not including any rest breaks at top or along the way).
FITNESS LEVEL: Expect a moderate pace for this mix of hills (some steep) trails and residential area, mostly paved.
ATTIRE: Water, layers and your adventurous spirit.

Hidden stairways, paths between fabulous homes, and a pedestrian bridge, all thru one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Portland. 4+ miles, lots of climbing!

Meet by the vacant grocery store (former Strohecher's) at 2855 SW Patton St.
Parking: Across the street on Old Orchard Road or at the lot several hundred feet up Patton from the start.

DESCRIPTION: Let’s meet at Tualatin Hills Nature Park, there's about 1.5 paved miles and about 3.5 miles of natural surface trails; we may need to loop on the paved trails due to the recent heavy rain. The park is a wildlife preserve with no dogs allowed.
DISTANCE: About 4.5 - 5 miles
PARKING: At the Nature Center.
MEET AT: 15655 SW Millikan Way, Beaverton. Nature Center.
LAUNCH TIME: 2:00 PM
FITNESS LEVEL: Expect a moderate pace for this walk consisting of natural surface and paved trails.
ATTIRE: Rain or shine, bring your layers and adventurous spirit.
GUESTS: Guests are welcome! Please input their name on the website when you RSVP. No furry friends at this location.
COFFEE / REPAST OPTION: Group preference; I will be unable to join.

About 5 miles out-and-back from the Holman Lane trailhead next to 3509 NW Raleigh St up to the Pittock Mansion on a lovely forested path.

There is a good amount of elevation gain (833 feet), but we take a moderate pace, and we usually stop for 15 to 20 minutes at the top to take in the views and chit chat.
Optional lunch/snacks at Elephants Deli afterwards.
