DESCRIPTION: Let's meet for a walk that includes a climb up a million year old shield volcano, and explore some of the Mountain Park trail system. At the top of the summit is the ancient volcano of the Boring Lava Field, Mount Sylvania, and the highest point in Lake Oswego at an elevation of 975 feet. Nansen Park offers a grassy area, benches, plantings, a weather station, and a 360 degree sweeping view of the landscape with views of the Tualatin River Valley. the West Hills and Mt. Hood on a clear day.
DISTANCE: About 5 miles
PARKING: Oswego Towne Square - New Season's Market
MEET AT: Walk across the street from Oswego Towne Square to meet in front of Hanko's Sports Bar and Grill on Greenridge and Monroe Parkway (address is 4 Monroe Parkway, Lake Oswego).
LAUNCH TIME: 10:00 AM (timing of walk is under two hours, not including any rest breaks at top or along the way).
FITNESS LEVEL: Expect a moderate pace for this mix of hills (some steep) trails and residential area, mostly paved.
ATTIRE: Water, layers and your adventurous spirit.
