It's a holiday for many and the weather is supposed to be beautiful. What a great excuse for getting out and exploring some of the designated trails that crisscross Southwest Portland!
We'll do a rough rectangle that will start going northbound on Trail 7, then cut east on SW #4, then south on SW #6, then west on SW #5 until we reach #7 again where we'll go north to close the loop.
The route is a combination of lesser traveled city streets, shortcuts where streets don't go through, three nature parks and few crossings of busier streets at traffic signals. We'll take two different overpasses to cross I-5 as well.
Highlights of the trip include Multnomah Village, Marshall Park, Maricara Nature Park and Woods Memorial Nature Park.
The route is roughly 6.5 miles with about 700 feet of elevation gain. It should take about 2.5 hours to complete, but that will depend on the group.
We'll start at the Intersection of SW Carson and SW 42nd. Plenty of on street parking near that intersection. Bring water and some sun protection as the day is supposed to be glorious.
