Bull Mountain Urban‑Wild Hills Challenge
Details
7.5 miles
**~900–1000 ft gain **
**Stretch your legs and lungs on this surprisingly hilly loop right in Tigard’s backyard. We’ll start from an easy on‑street parking area near Sunrise Park and quickly leave the cars behind for a mix of quiet neighborhood streets and hidden green spaces. **
**Our route links together the forested Ascension Trail, the meadows and singletrack of Cach Natural Area, and a steady climb to the Bull Mountain high point on High Tor Drive, with views toward the valley on a clear day. Expect multiple shorter climbs rather than one big grind, plus a nice blend of pavement and real trail underfoot. **
**This is an ideal “training hike” for longer spring and summer adventures: about 7.5 miles with roughly 900–1000 feet of elevation gain, at a social but steady pace. Most of the hike is within neighborhoods, but there are several stretches of true wooded trail where it feels surprisingly wild for being so close to home. **
**Recommended: sturdy walking shoes or light hikers, water, and layers for changing weather. Poles are optional but can be handy on the steeper ups and downs. **
