What we’re about
It's time to feel wonder again.
Have you found yourself in a reading slump? Do you keep picking up books that leave you depressed and uninspired?
Maybe you need more magic in your life.
This fantasy-only book club will meet each month to discuss a new fantasy read. We'll follow the same schedule as the More Magic Book Club I host on Substack to make things easy.
Here's the schedule for the rest of 2025:
June: Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by VE Schwab
July: The Web of Time by Flavia Brunetti
August: Ink Blood Sister Scribe by Emma Törzs
September: Water Moon by Samantha Sotti Yambao
October: The River Has Roots by Amal El-Mohtar
November: Once Upon a Starlit Tide by Kell Woods
December: The Everlasting by Alix Harrow
If any of the titles interest you, grab a copy, give it a read, and join us to share your thoughts! I'll bring discussion topics to get the conversation going.
Be kind and considerate in your discussion. The book might be someone's favorite, and it's no fun to have someone rip apart something you love.
If you are unable to attend in person but still want to participate, you can comment on the Book Club post on Substack at: https://demiutley.substack.com/. The post will go up at the end of the scheduled month. Each book will also have a Storygraph Buddy Read that will be linked to in the month's event description.
I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the books!

For our first fantasy book club meet up, let's discuss V. E. Schwab's latest book, Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil.
I'll bring discussion topics to get the conversation going. Please be kind and respectful during discussions. The book might be someone's favorite read, and no one wants to have someone rip apart something they loved.
As you read, feel free to participate in the Storygraph Buddy Read.
A discussion post will also go up on the More Magic Substack page at the end of June if you'd like to discuss there.
We'll start the discussion shortly after 10am to give everyone to arrive and get settled.
I can't wait to hear what you think of the book!
