Book Club: The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin

It's finally time: we're reading The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin for May! I've never read any Jemisin before and can't wait to chat about this book with you.

A quick description:

Three terrible things happen in a single day. Essun, a woman living an ordinary life in a small town, comes home to find that her husband has brutally murdered their son and kidnapped their daughter. Essun does not care if the world falls apart around her. She’ll break it herself, if she must, to save her daughter.

I'll bring discussion topics to get the conversation going. Please be kind and respectful during discussions. The book might be someone's favorite read, and no one wants to have someone rip apart something they loved.
