Drawing is the foundational skill for nearly all visual arts. Drawing necessitates you slow down and truly see the world around you, noticing details and the subtle interplay of light and shadow. Come improve your drawing skills in this focused, 3-session class where you’ll learn
core techniques needed to create compelling drawings of stationary objects. Students will learn how to see and measure objects accurately to achieve correct proportions and how to use negative space for correcting errors and defining object edges. We will dive into shading to give your drawings the illusion of 3-dimensions, focusing on highlights, mid-tones, core shadows, reflected light, and cast shadows. Students will learn about blending and layering techniques using graphite to create smooth tonal transitions and convey texture.
