About us
The Portland Australian Football Club (PAFC) (Instagram) is Portland’s local Australian Rules Football club competing in the United States Australian Football League (USAFL). We field both men’s (the Steelheads) and women’s/non-binary (the Sockeyes) teams and welcome players of all backgrounds, skill levels, and athletic experience.
Australian rules football — or footy — is a fast-paced, physical field sport that blends continuous play, kicking, catching, and running. It’s distinct from American football, soccer, and rugby, and offers a great mix of fitness, skills, and and teamwork.
Whether you’re curious about a new sport, looking to test yourself physically, or want to join a community of friendly, active people in Portland (who also love beer), we have a home for you. We run practices, local metro games, and tournaments throughout the season, and we’re always open to new players and supporters.
We have a casual, easy-to-learn indoor season starting on Sunday, February 1st -- come have a kick!

Portland Footy - Bring a Friend to Footy Day! New recruits welcome!
Clinton Park, 5576 SE Division St., Portland, OR, USNever played footy before? Join the club!
The Steelheads and Sockeyes (our two teams) are always recruiting for new players, and there's no better day to come out than this Sunday May 17th for Bring a Friend to Footy Day.
There's never any pressure and you don't need any existing skills -- we'll teach you everything you need! We'll have clinics and drills if you're new as well so we'd love for you to try footy and come out.

Have you ever thought "Wow, I wish soccer had more contact!" or "What if there was more running in rugby" or just interested in trying a brand new cool sport? If so, come on out and try Australian Rules football with the Portland Australian Football Club! PAFC represents Portland, Oregon in the United States Australian Football League (USAFL). PAFC is proud to accept players of all skills, athletic backgrounds, genders, and knowledge of the sport.
Join the Steelheads, Sockeyes, and greater Portland Australian Football community as we head back to Clinton City Park for regular Sunday trainings from 1pm-3pm.
The 2026 season has just kicked off and we'd love to welcome new players to come try a new, incredibly fun sport, with a great group of friendly welcoming club members and players.
All you need to bring are some athletic clothes, water, and sneakers. If you have soccer cleats, bring those too. Our sport can include tackling, but there is no obligation to take contact if you'd prefer to just work on skills or work up to it -- we're easy!
All Sunday practices are typically from 1pm-3pm at Clinton City Park by the parking lot off of SE Clinton (see map).
