A challenging 10+ mile hike that rises almost 3,000 feet in elevation to a stone hut and a ridge with a beautiful view of Mt. Hood.

Parking ($5 or recreation pass) is limited at Top Spur Trailhead, so carpooling is strongly encouraged. We meet for carpool at Gateway Transit Center at 6am. Please be cautious of potholes as this road is not maintained by the county.

This is a full day event, don't sign up if you need to be back at a certain time. You will need appropriate hiking shoes/clothes, water, food, etc.

This is the estimated timeline:

  • 06:00AM Meet at Gateway TC for carpool
  • 07:30AM Arrive at Top Spur Trailhead
  • 11:00AM Break for lunch at the top
  • 02:00PM Back to the cars
  • 04:00PM Return to Gateway
