Earth Day Trail Project @ South Branch Trail

Details
The South Branch Trail is a hidden forest oasis in South Portland, and we'll be helping to spruce (pun intended) it up for Earth Day with the South Portland Land Trust (SPLT)! Meet us at the trail head here (43°37'54.2"N 70°19'49.0"W) on Philbrook Ave. across from the JC Penney parking lot. You are welcome to park in the JC Penney parking lot.
No skill or experience is needed for this project! Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that you won't mind getting muddy/dirty. If you have work gloves, loppers, and/or a pruning saw, please bring them. These are some of the things we'll be working on:
- trash clean up
- cutting back invasive species, primarily bittersweet
- raking off timber steps
- relocating and rebuilding part of the trail by the creek
- spreading mulch
We'll be led by two representatives from the SPLT, Tom Blake and Tom Mauldin, who have a wealth of information about the history and development of the trail. The trail is a 1 mile loop, and you can read more about the South Branch Trail here.
Afterwards, if people are up for it, we can go for a late lunch at Elevation Burger.
This event is outdoors and weather permitting.
I'll post updates in the comments, but I also recommend checking and using the event chat for communication about this event. Only attendees can see messages on the event chat. I'll post a comment and picture in the event chat when I arrive.
Stay home if you're feeling ill or exposed to someone sick.
