It's Maine Maple Weekend so we gotta grab a pancake breakfast! Merrifield Farm in Gorham will have pancakes, sausage, maple baked beans, and hot dogs. They'll also have a shed with maple hot & iced coffee and other sweets. They take cash and credit card.

Besides the breakfast, they have a whole host of activities to check out: Boiling Demo, Blacksmith, 4-H exhibitors with Oxen, Wagon Rides, Live Music, and more. We're going early to try to beat the crowds, but I expect that there will still be a line, so please keep that in mind.

This is a semi-rural family farm, so parking will be ad hoc on the side of the road. If you know someone going, I recommend carpooling. Merrifield Farm is a solid 30 minute drive from Portland.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: Indigenous peoples of the northeastern so-called North America were the first people to use maple sap, and from them European colonists appropriated the practice. The farms that now produce maple syrup occupy the unceded territory of the Wabanaki. This acknowledgement provides an opportunities for us to learn more about the resistance and resilience of indigenous communities in Maine and reflect on ways we can repair the harm done and being done to indigenous community.

I'll post a comment on the event when I arrive so you know how to find us. This is an indoor venue. Stay home if you're feeling ill or exposed to someone sick.
