Let's meet at the Portland Public Library for a lecture hosted by Greater Portland Landmarks: The Modern Mile: Forest Ave's Transportation Transformation with Phil Morse and Myles Smith. The lecture starts at 5pm in the Rines Auditorium on the lower level/basement.
They'll talk about "how Portland's identity has been carved by the routes we've traveled. From maritime commerce that built a bustling port city to the streetcars, railways, and highways that connected neighborhoods and spurred growth, transportation has been the invisible architect of Portland's landscape. Watch as neighborhoods took root near wharves and rail yards, clustering around the workplaces that sustained them, then follow the transformation as trolleys and automobiles unlocked suburban expansion and reshaped the boundaries of community."

I'll post a comment on the event when I arrive so you know how to find us. This is an indoor venue. Stay home if you're feeling ill or exposed to someone sick.
