What we’re about

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a weird disease that shows up differently in different people and can change over time. Luckily, many prescription drugs have become available in the past 30 years. Even so, people still struggle: first to get diagnosed; then to find an effective medication; and also to find help when needed. Everyone with MS has their own unique journey. We gather to support each person, sharing both positive stories and frustrations. Sometimes we chat about our neurologists, or annoying symptoms, or research. At other times we may share a delicious healthy recipe, or ask if anyone in the group can recommend an exercise class. Sometimes we take a break from medical topics and just laugh!

This is one of 2 groups that meets monthly in the Portland (Maine) area. No fee. No commitment. A friendly, informal community of people interested in wellness. Multiple Sclerosis is our focus. Family and friends are always welcome.

This group started in 2016 and was included as a “Coffee & Conversation” group on the website of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In 2020 the NMSS changed its groups to only include trained leaders. Our group opted to stay as an informal “Coffee and Conversation.” So now we promote our meetings via Meetup!
