### 🔥 The Long-Term Vision: A Speed Chess Hub for Portland
Organizer Maarifa Roho previously operated Philadelphia’s Franklin Mercantile Chess Club (2001-2012)—the city’s only full-time chess club until his departure, after which it unfortunately closed.
Now, this Meetup marks a fresh start—an effort to establish Portland’s premier Speed Chess Hub, a place where blitz enthusiasts can gather nightly for high-level rated games. The ultimate goal? A full time Chess Club Cafe offering a place to commiserate and play Speed Chess
