Plugins are add-ons that give you more functionality, flexibility, and efficiency than what you get "right out of the box" with SketchUp. The number of plugins is legion, and let you do anything from simple 2D drawing operations to complex parametric arrays. Some developers charge for plugins but many are available for free right from your SketchUp toolbar.
