Soapmaking Class! Learn The Basics of Soapmaking. No experience required.

This is a hands-on imersive soap making workshop experience!
The fee for this 3-hour workshop is $35, and it includes all supplies. The workshop fee is payable when we begin the class. Please plan to pay in cash.
*First, we'll learn about how oils are turned into soap.
*I will briefly explain the whole process and then demonstrate making a batch of soap.
*Each student will then follow the process and create their own batch of soap. I'll guide you through each step of the process and teach you about the safety precautions needed for soapmaking.
*You will be learning what is known in the handmade soaping world as the "Cold Process" (CP) soapmaking method.
*I will also teach you the CPOP soaping method wherein we will put the soap batter that you created and then poured into soap molds into a 170°F oven to "force" saponification of the soap.
*While your batch of soap is in the oven, we'll have an in-depth presentation explaining all about the saponification process and how to formulate your own soapmaking recipes ... and, most importantly, how to use a soaping calculator website to formulate soapmaking recipes.

*I will provide all of the ingredients, tools, and utensils needed to learn how to make CPOP (Cold Process Oven Processed) soap!

*You will need to bring either your phone or a tablet so that I can show you how to use an online soapmaking calculator. I'll demonstrate this with my phone tethered on a big screen TV, and you'll follow along on your phone to learn how to use a soapmaking online calculator.
*You will have a lovely batch of homemade soap to take home with you!
*I only use essential oils to scent my soaps. You can choose either Lavender or a citrus blend of sweet orange & Lemongrass (or unscented) for your soap.

I have been making soap for over 10 years, and I love sharing all the knowledge I have acquired with others who are interested in the soapmaking process!

((I created this Meetup group a long time ago. Right afte creating it, I had carpal tunnel surgery and could not make soap or teach soapmaking for quite some time. then Covid hit. I am finally comfortable meeting in person to teach soapmaking!
