Photographs of Gales Creek

Join us on this urban outing in Portland to see photographs of Gales Creek by Forest Grove photographer Rick Stare. The Gales Creek headwaters are high in the Coast Range, close to Storey Burn Rd and just over the ridge from Reehers Camp and the Nehalem River. Gales Creek descends through the Tillamook State Forest past Gales Creek Campground and follows Hwy 6 (Wilson River Hwy) down past Timber Rd and then flows through an agricultural valley past the town of Gales Creek and on into Forest Grove before it joins the Tualatin River.

Rick has been capturing images of Gales Creek since 2011. His work emphasizes the world above, reflected in the complex surface of the moving water, and he is most happy when he can combine reflections with glimpses of the rocks below. Some of the work is very abstract.
