Fancy Pants Hike: Round Three. Still Selling Out. Still Worth It.
Details
Yes, we've done this twice. Yes, it sold out both times. Yes, we all heard you about the waitlist. Let's bring on the third showing.
Portland's parks did not come peacefully into existence. Behind every beloved green space in this city is a story of dastardly villains, civic heroes, backroom scheming, and improbable triumph. We're pulling back the curtain on all of it.
And this is not your average walk-and-talk. Before the hike, I go deep - researching the history, hunting down old photographs, and building a fully interactive visual experience you can pull up on your phone as we walk. We stop at a spot, you open your screen, and suddenly you're looking at exactly what that place looked like when the drama was unfolding. Old photos, maps, graphics - all of it, right in your hand, right where history actually happened. It's like a time machine, except with better shoes.
And then there's Hoyt Arboretum itself. Those trails? Not accidental. Every curve, every clearing, every sudden breathtaking vista was deliberately engineered to manipulate your emotions - techniques perfected by legendary landscape architects, hiding in plain sight for over a century.
We're exposing the whole beautiful conspiracy. On foot. In 2.5 hours. With excellent company.
Spots are limited and the waitlist is very, very real. You know what to do.
