Kayaking the East Fork Lewis

The outing: Join us for a fun flatwater kayak outing on the East Fork Lewis River (just north of Vancouver) to celebrate "Juneteenth." This is an easy paddle at just a moderate pace -- you need only basic kayak skills.
The leader needs: Your FULL name, email address and cell number, and the name and number of an emergency contact. If you bring a guest, include their name and cell number.
Meeting location: Paradise Point State Park, exit 16 off I-5 north, about 20 miles N of Vancouver. After exiting take the first left turn for the park.
Park fee: $10 per car, cash or check (no credit or debit cards). You'll need to fill out a daily Discover Pass form after you park at the put-in.
Outing donation: Sierra Club members $2, non-members $4. Try to have correct cash or check (to Sierra Club). We're unable to take Venmo, debit or credit cards.
Kayak rentals: There are no kayak rentals at the park. You'll need to bring your own kayak, or a rental. Don't forget your paddle and pfd (life jacket).
Weather: Kayak outings go rain or shine, unless rain is heavy or there is severe weather -- thunderstorms, lightning, high winds. You'll receive a weather update and reminder on June 17 (Tues).
Pets: This outing is not suitable for pets.
What to wear: No cotton. Polyester, nylon or polypropylene are far superior and will dry much faster if you get wet. Footwear: water shoes or river sandals. A hat will protect your head from the sun. Sunscreen is highly recommended.
Water/lunch: We'll stop for a lunch break. Bring a full water bottle and lunch.
