OUR NEXT HIKE - PR4 BARCELOS – TRILHO DAS POÇAS

Thanks to all who came to our last hike in the Arouca Geopark. We has a great day of hiking in the forests and hills.

THE NEXT HIKE IS PLANNED FOR TUESDAY MARCH 4TH.

Our next hike is in the countryside near Barcelos
PR4 BARCELOS - TRILHO DAS POÇAS

The last two hikes have had quite a bit of climb. So lets mix it up and do a gentle hike in the little villages, streams and ponds outside Barcelos.
The area is rich in natural beauty.
The hike is approximately 11km long and starts in the small village of Creixomil, not far from Barcelos. Please note that the journey by car from central Porto is approximately 50 minutes.

The trail will follow some old levadas and will pass through stands of Willow and Ash. We will pass by many natural ponds, which are rich in wildlife and flora. The wild yellow flowers are already blooming in Porto so we should have a sunny hike and will hopefully be bombarded with spring colours.

The hike has only about 100 metres of elevation and is classified as easy.
It will not be very difficult, but please only sign up if you have the fitness to walk 11km and do some gentle climbing. The forecast is good, but please bring a coat, waterproof boots and preferably poles, a sunhat is probably a good idea as well.

Bring lots of water and a picnic lunch. It will be about a 3 1\2 hour walk, plus some time for lunch.

We will meet at a cafe not very far from the trailhead. Once you RSVP I will send the cafe location and meeting time.

We will keep the numbers to less than 10. So places will be first come first served.

This hike is only suitable for people with their own transport (or a friend with a car!!).

Please note that this is a purely social not for profit group. The hike will be held on a publicly accessible marked trail, but all liability for your safety lies with yourselves. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the right walking equipment and have sufficient fitness to complete the hike.
