Contribute to PostgreSQL: Learn How to Review Patches
Details
Looking to get started in the PostgreSQL development cycle? Want to put your name in the Postgres 20 logs? Reviewing patches is a great way to learn about Postgres builds and test patches currently in review and get involved in an active development version of PostgreSQL.
This meetup will be an overview of how to get started reviewing PostgreSQL features in development. First we’ll build PostgreSQL from the development version, we’ll find a patch to test, apply the patch, run the tests, and submit our feedback to the community.
Note that to review patches or work with the committfest app you need a PostgreSQL community account (https://www.postgresql.org/ (https://www.postgresql.org/) which does have a creation embargo. Set this up a couple days before you want to get started.
This session will be hosted by Elizabeth Christensen and Paul Jungwirth. Elizabeth is a developer advocate at Snowflake focused on Open Source Software and PostgreSQL (and she’s one of our Meetup for All organizers). Paul Jungwirth is head of his development company Illuminated Computing and is a significant PostgreSQL contributor. Paul is very involved in the PostgreSQL Hacking Discord (https://discord.gg/fzFKufzC) and runs the patch review workshop (#patch-review-workshop).
