Join us virtually on Tuesday, January 14th for “BM25 full-text search in Postgres via Tantivy” with Philippe Nöel.
The talk will start with motivations for why full-text search in Postgres needs improvements. This talk will discuss how we improved full-text search in Postgres by integrating Tantivy, a Lucene-inspired library, to offer a BM25 index in Postgres. We will discuss the history of search in Postgres, pgvector's recent rise to fame, and its integration with ParadeDB pg_search. The talk will conclude with some real-world examples and motivations for other areas of Postgres which can be improved as part of extensions.
