Join us virtually on Tuesday, August 11th for our annual Gathering of the Herd! SF PUG celebrates World Elephant Day with a selection of short talks on community.
First off we have Kalyani Madipadiga with "Behind the Scenes: Building an Inclusive PostgreSQL Community with PgUS!"
Discover how the PgUS Community Development Committee is helping grow the PostgreSQL community through education, volunteer engagement, and opportunity Grants. This talk offers a behind-the-scenes look at the initiatives that make PostgreSQL more accessible, welcoming, and inclusive for everyone.
What we're achieving:
-The mission and vision of the PgUS Community Development Committee
-How Opportunity Grants help individuals attend PostgreSQL conferences and become active community members
-Ways to volunteer, contribute, and get involved in the PostgreSQL ecosystem
-How community-led initiatives are creating opportunities for learners, professionals, and future leaders.
Next we have Stacey Haysler with "Postgres Women—A Group for Everyone"
We all know women in Postgres, but how many of us know about Postgres Women? I’ll recount the history of the group, share our goals and plans, and offer suggestions about how everyone can participate, regardless of gender!
And finally, Christophe Pettus with ""The most important community group you've never heard of: PgInfra"
Behind the scenes, the PostgreSQL Global Infrastructure Team is the group that keeps the lights on for just about every piece of technology that supports the PostgreSQL community: postgresql.org, the mailing lists, the buildfarm, and dozens of other systems that you might not even know exist. This talk is an introduction to the infrastructure that lives under the postgresql.org domain, the technologies we use, and give everyone an opportunity to find out more.
