This presentation will include an overview of TimescaleDB, a new open-source time-series database that is engineered up from PostgreSQL and packaged as an extension.

We will start with a description of its architecture in detail, why the characteristics of time-series workloads allow for such design decisions to scale relational DBs, and conclude with performance benchmarks, as well as intuition about the scenarios in which its design shines (and those in which it does not).

The session will end with Q&A. You can learn more about TimeScaleDB at http://www.timescale.com/

Speaker: Michael Freedman, CTO of Timescale and a Professor of Computer Science at Princeton.
