Oracles 101: What are oracles and how to work with them?

Details

Hey Practical Blockchainers,

After a long pause, we are back with another event!

We are going to learn more about Oracles.

So, what are oracles?
Oracles are entities that connect smart contracts to the outside world.

And why are they important?
Because oracles enable smart contracts to enable more sophisticated functionality by interacting with rich external data, doing heavy computations without exorbitant gas fees etc.

For this workshop, we'll be working with Chainlink Oracles.

We'll cover:

  1. What is an Oracle and how do they work?
  2. Using an existing Chainlink oracle price feed
  3. Setting up a Chainlink Node
  4. Creating your own data feed with a custom adapter on a Chainlink node

This is a code-along for the most part, so please make sure your IDE is prepped and ready to go!

Looking forward to building together! See you!
