If you have ever wanted to pick up a pencil and capture what you see around you but weren't sure where to start, this meetup is for you. We are getting together in Austin to focus on the absolute basics of sketching, stripping away the intimidation factor and just getting comfortable with putting marks on paper. This is a low-pressure environment designed for people who are truly starting from scratch and want to build a foundation in a friendly, supportive group.

We will spend our time covering simple techniques like observational drawing, understanding line weight, and how to manage proportions without overthinking it. You do not need to bring any special talent or expensive equipment, just a sketchbook, a couple of pencils, and an open mind. Come ready to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn the fundamentals alongside others who are in the same boat.
