Practice English in a Supportive Online Environment : Celebrating Freedom

Details

Hi Team,

The United States celebrates Independence Day on July Fourth (often called Fourth of July). I would love for us to discuss what does FREEDOM mean to us?

  1. What does the word "freedom" mean to you personally?
(Can you describe a time in your life when you felt truly free?)
  2. How is freedom expressed or celebrated in your home country?
(Are there any holidays or traditions that focus on independence or liberty?)
  3. Do you believe that freedom means the same thing to everyone? Why or why not?
  4. Can someone have freedom even if they live in a country with many rules or restrictions?
(What kinds of freedom matter most to you—speech, religion, movement, etc.?)
  5. Have you ever felt that your freedom was limited or taken away? What happened?
  6. What do you think are the responsibilities that come with freedom?
  7. In your opinion, is freedom more about individual rights or about helping the community? Why?
  8. What are some freedoms that people in your home country enjoy that others might not?
(Are there freedoms you wish were more protected?)
  9. How has moving to or visiting the United States changed the way you think about freedom?
  10. If you could give one piece of advice to a leader about how to protect freedom, what would it be?
